Preface

Welcome to my walkthrough for the Pokémon fangame Pokémon Reborn! This is a full walkthrough (from start to the final postgame battle) with steps and strategies that include my rebalance mod's changes.

Difficulty

This patch buffs a substantial amount of Pokémon, making the game (in theory) easier as there's a much wider variety of more useful species. To compensate for this, nearly every major (story progressing) battle has been bumped up to around the level cap. In addition, all strategies assume that you are using Set mode, no items (on either side), and are relatively competent at team building.

Past the midway point (City Restoration), major story fights may use lower-tier legendaries that you cannot obtain until the postgame to compensate for the easily abusable AIs. They will also use custom mega evolutions added by the All-Gen mod.

Playing silly catch-related challenges (like "nuzlockes", or monotype teams) with this patch is extremely unrecommended due to the team composition variety required.

Routes

Reborn has a few different story routes which primarily affect events near the end of the game and in the postgame.

This walkthrough will primarily cover the route known as the "Bad" R-Determination path as it's the most complete. At the end of the game, you can switch to the "Good" path very easily without requiring a new save.

You can replay the game entirely to get a different route, e.g. the "Bad" Z-Regular path. That route is only minimally covered.

Relationship Points

This game has a relationship points system, although as far as I can tell it's pretty primitive and doesn't seem to affect many things aside from the true ending cutscenes. I'll mention these occasionally, but won't cover them in depth.

Recommended Mods

Aside from the mandatory mods required for the Balance Patch, there's a few mods that I recommend for the best experience.

  • SWM Modular Modpack.

Only a small selection are intended; the starter choice mod completely breaks game balance, and the AutoDex mod might break the game.

    • GlamazonShop
    • ItemRadar
    • LearnEggMoves -- the game balanced for this
    • MiningForRich
    • NoTMXAnimations
    • PredictRelationshipValues
    • ReusablePremierBalls
    • SharedPC
    • SnappyMenus
    • TypeBattleIcons
  • Pyrolusitium Z2 (lite ver, updated for 19.5). Overhauls the UI significantly. Make sure to install the SWM modpack compatibility file as well.

Hidden Items and Missing Events

This walkthrough will only minimally cover hidden items. Use the item tracker you get in the Slums early.

Likewise, I'll write about most event/static encounters, but I'll skip some that just really aren't worth it.

Left vs Right

Sometimes, you might find that I tell you to go left when you actually have to go right. Sorry! I can't tell left from right. Just go the other way!

Other Useful Resources

Whilst both the base game and the All-Gen patch contain spreadsheets with information in them, both of these are not applicable to the Rebalance Mod due to the invasive changes.
